Port Heiden is a coastal community on the north side of the Alaska Peninsula, near the mouth of the Meshik River. It is home to many former residents of Meshik village, who moved inland during the 1980s due to severe coastal erosion. Local government in Port Heiden is provided, to approximately 111 residents, by City and Tribal Councils.
